Dinner at Eat Me Cafe Scarborough
On Tuesday early evening I headed to Eat Me Cafe Scarborough with a friend for dinner. We had previously visited the Cafe one chilly afternoon for a coffee, cake and a natter. That day I ate the most delicious & moist Chocolate Truffle Cake. The cakes at Eat Me are freshly made by Sue the ‘Cake Lady’ and delivered daily. During this first visit we had a chance to look over the menu and spy some of the food offerings going out to other tables. At this point we decided that in the near future we had to return for a meal.
Dinner
Eat Me Cafe pride themselves on home cooked, quality food so deciding was quite tricky. The menu offers burgers, hot dogs, ramen noodle dishes, sandwiches, wraps, classic dishes and then a daily specials board. So much choice and it all sounded delicious. In the end I opted for the Handcrafted Panko Breaded Chicken Burger with added cheese and bacon. My burger came in a Brioche bun but I could have had it in ciabatta or handcut bread. The chicken was lightly bread, succulent and very tender, the additional toppings of cheese and bacon were the finishing touches.
The meal was served on a paper lined rustic metal tray which matches Eat Me’s interior decor perfectly. Skin on fries were lightly seasoned with Eat Me’s secret blend, cooked to perfection and served in a rustic metal dish. The finishing touches were a salad garnish and Homeslaw which was rich and creamy. The whole meal was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. I can’t wait to go back another time and try some more of the dishes off the menu or special board.
Cheeky dessert
As we were sat opposite the counter which had a fridge laden with cakes sat atop of it, it was hard to leave without having a dessert. The choice between cheesecakes, pies and cakes was hard but I chose one of my all time favourites – Carrot Cake. This was served with a lovely vanilla ice cream. Throughout our meal the staff were very friendly and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed to have a great dining experience.
Eat Me Cafe Scarborough is definitely a hidden gem but it is always busy so word is definitely out about how good it is. Tucked away behind the Stephen Joseph Theatre it is well worth a visit for either a cheeky cake or a meal with friends. The cafe has a very relaxed rustic feel with huge solid wood tables & wooden menus. Importantly utmost pride is taken with the food and service you receive whilst being a guest there.
Bravo Eat Me Cafe Scarborough!
