13th & 14th June 2018 sees the Aros Centre, Portree host the Skye Food and Drink Festival. A celebration of food and drink from Skye and the surrounding regions as well as some local musicians playing in the restaurant. As I only live about 4 miles from the Aros Centre it seemed only right to have a drive out and have a look around. It must have been an intriguing prospect as hubby tagged along too! A long overdue visit to Byland Abbey was in order and we picked a beautiful May afternoon. My family originate from Thirsk and surrounding villages so I have passed the Abbey on numerous occasions. Rievaulx Abbey
Having received an English Heritage membership as a Christmas gift I have being visiting a few new places this year. One of the first places on my list was the ethereal Rievaulx Abbey. It is very close to my first family home in Thirsk, North Yorkshire yet I have never visited until now.
